Ashen Chests can be found from the following sources:
- 1 Guaranteed as a reward for solving an Ashen Guardian’s Notes Quest, dropped by Ashen Guardians that appear during Skeleton Fort World Events or on Islands as Emergent Skeleton Captain spawn.
- 1 Guaranteed inside a completed Skeleton Fort Vault.
Where are ashen Chests sold?

Like the Ashen Keys, Ashen Chests can be sold to the Bilge Rats in the Tavern for 5 Doubloons, or they can be opened with an Ashen Key to discover Tomes (more on that below).
How do you get ashen chest voyage?
The only way to get chests is to do the legend voyage, buy the stash voyage or sink the captain ship an Ashen Fleet. Random sloops and galleons can also drop an ashen chest (got one from a sloop last night).
Are ashen Chests worth opening?
The Ashen Chest can be sold whether you have opened it or if it is still locked. No matter which way you sell it it will earn you five Doubloons. You can sell them to Larinna or The Servant of the Flame, and you will be rewarded with even more if you are currently acting as an Emissary.
How do you open ashen Marauders chest?
The Ashen Marauder’s Chest is a type of Ashen Treasure Chest in Sea of Thieves. Treasure Chests are locked with locks that can only be opened by Skeleton Keys held by Gold Hoarders on every Outpost. They are willing to buy these Chests for a fraction of their worth.
Where can I buy ashen voyages?
Players can purchase Ashen versions of Bounty Voyages at Morrow’s Peak Outpost in The Devil’s Roar, which take them to various Islands in the Volcanic Region. The Skeleton Captains within these Bounty Maps will reward players with the more valuable, Ashen versions of Bounty Skulls.
Where is the ashen key on the map?
Ashen Key Masters can be found as solo Emergent Skeleton Captains on the shorelines of Islands. They can also be encountered as Skeleton Fort’s second Boss wave. There is also a small chance that an Ashen Key Master will drop an Ashen Key when you kill it.
